Thinning Hair

Noticing more scalp, a wider parting or a thinner ponytail can knock your confidence. At our Southwell clinic we offer E50 hair exosome treatment to support a healthier scalp and thicker-looking hair, after checking whether a GP should look at the cause first.

Understanding thinning hair

Thinning hair is most often caused by genetics and hormones, with stress, illness, iron or thyroid problems, childbirth and ageing also playing a part. For gradual thinning, Skin Anatomy in Southwell offers E50 hair exosome treatment, applied to the scalp after microneedling to support the follicle environment. Sudden or patchy hair loss should be checked by your GP first.

Everyone sheds hair every day as part of the normal growth cycle, but when follicles gradually shrink or spend less time in their growing phase, hair becomes finer and sparser. In men this often shows as a receding hairline or thinning crown; in women it is more commonly a widening parting or an overall loss of density. Hair can also shed heavily for a few months after a stressful event, illness, surgery or childbirth, a pattern that often recovers on its own.

Exosomes are tiny vesicles released by cells that carry proteins, lipids and nucleic acids between cells as part of their natural communication. E50 HAIR exosomes are made using the manufacturer's ENTR® technology: the exosomes are collected from salmon testes cells and cultivated in embryonic stem cell media. After microneedling creates fine channels in the scalp, the exosome solution is applied so it can reach the skin around the follicles, where it aims to calm inflammation and support a healthier environment for hair growth.

It is important to be clear about what this treatment is and is not. E50 is a cosmetic product rather than a licensed medicine, the research on exosomes for hair is still emerging, and results vary between people. It is not a treatment for medical hair-loss conditions such as alopecia areata or scarring alopecia. We have seen encouraging changes in some clients, and at your free consultation we will talk honestly about whether it is likely to help you. Treatment is for adults aged 18 and over.

What causes thinning hair?

  • Genetic pattern hair loss in men and women
  • Hormonal changes, including menopause and after childbirth
  • Stress, illness, surgery or rapid weight loss
  • Low iron, low vitamin D or thyroid problems
  • Tight hairstyles and heat or chemical damage
  • Some medicines, and natural ageing

Everyone’s skin is different. At your free consultation we look at the likely causes of your concern, and your medical history, before recommending anything.

Treatments for thinning hair

Many clients get the best results from a combination of treatments. We recommend a plan only after a free, no-obligation consultation — and we will tell you honestly what improvement is realistic.

E50 HAIR exosome treatment combines scalp microneedling with a salmon-derived exosome solution made using ENTR® technology. The aim is to calm inflammation and support the environment around the follicles, helping hair look thicker and healthier. A course of several sessions is usually recommended, and changes are gradual, so we review progress with photographs over a few months. Results vary, it suits gradual thinning rather than bald areas, and it is not suitable if you have a fish allergy.

Self-care tips

Simple habits that support your skin alongside — or before — any treatment for thinning hair.

  • Eat a balanced diet with enough protein, iron and vitamin D
  • Be gentle with wet hair and limit heat styling and bleaching
  • Avoid tight ponytails, braids and extensions that pull on the roots
  • Manage stress where you can, as it can trigger extra shedding
  • Protect your scalp from the sun, especially where hair is thinner
  • Take progress photos in the same light to track changes over time

Thinning Hair: your questions answered

Do exosomes really work for thinning hair?

Exosomes show promise for thinning hair, but the evidence is still emerging and results vary. E50 HAIR exosomes aim to calm scalp inflammation and support the follicle environment. Some clients see thicker-looking hair over a few months, while others notice less change, which we explain honestly at consultation.

How many exosome sessions will I need for thinning hair?

Most people need a course of several sessions spaced a few weeks apart, followed by occasional maintenance. The right number depends on how much thinning you have, how long it has been happening and how your scalp responds. We review your progress with photographs before recommending further sessions.

When will I see results from hair exosome treatment?

Changes are gradual and usually take several months to become noticeable, because hair grows slowly and follicles need time to respond. Some clients notice less shedding first, followed by improved density. We recommend judging progress at around three to six months rather than after a single session.

Is E50 hair treatment suitable for women?

Yes, E50 HAIR exosome treatment can be suitable for both women and men with gradual thinning. Women often notice thinning as a wider parting or reduced density, which can be linked to hormones, iron levels or the menopause, so we may suggest checking these with your GP alongside treatment.

Does scalp microneedling hurt?

Most clients describe scalp microneedling as mildly uncomfortable rather than painful. The needles are very fine and the treatment is quick, and your scalp may feel tender or look pink for a day or two afterwards. Comfort levels vary, and we can pause at any time.

Who should not have exosome treatment for hair?

Exosome treatment is not suitable if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a fish allergy, an active scalp infection or inflamed scalp condition, or sudden hair loss that has not been assessed. It is also not a treatment for scarring alopecia or alopecia areata. We check your medical history carefully at consultation.
